The Central Library plays a vital role in furthering the academic and research mission of Central University of Odisha and facilitates creation and dissemination of knowledge. The range and quality of services offered by the library are comparable to any modern libraries in India of International standard.
Soon after the formal appearance of the Central Library in the year 2009, immediate emphasis was given for a good collection development on Text Books and Reference Books. Besides holding an excellent print collection of over 45319+ volumes of books, it also provides access to popular magazines, selected journals, theses, reports, e-books, e-journals and online databases in Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
With the guidance of the present Honorable Vice-Chancellor, the library is marching towards its goal by taking some good initiatives like providing fully air-condition facility in the library, e-resource zone as well as computer centre, separate server for library operation, good collection of documents, talking library (for visually impaired students), 02 NDL E-Resources, and providing sufficient computers in the library for accessing OPAC and E-Resources, develop a property counter with security and CCTV cameras for proper surveillance of the library. The Central Library currently subscribed to 09 e-Resources through e-ShodhSindhu which is available "24 x 7" at both the campuses of CUO which is accessible to our users in-house as well as remotely.
Central Library promises to promote the CUO, Odisha's mission as well as to discover, preserve, and disseminate knowledge. It engages with the ongoing technological transformations to deliver world-class physical and digital content and services significant to education, research, publication, and outreach.
